Selecta is presenting a newly created, cross-crop differentiation of the product range that enables even better orientation. The tried-and-tested ranges of established Selecta genetics, known for their good technical performance, is grouped together as ESSENTIALS. These series are characterised by a high level of homogeneity, cover the basic demand for varieties and colours and are usually produced in large volumes for the mass market. Individual, mostly smaller series and single varieties with special features and characteristics can be seen as STAND OUTS and are often produced by specialists for garden centres and specialist shops. In addition, there are the very special exclusive highlights in the Selecta range that are easy to identify and recognise not only by experts but also by consumers. These specialities are presented as DIAMONDS with a special focus in marketing. What all three categories have in common is the proven Selecta quality standard!
Highlights of the FlowerTrials® presentation by Selecta:
A prominent presence at the Selecta stand is the DIAMOND Calibachoa Bakari®, FleuroStar Award participant 2024. The Calibrachoa variety with the extraordinary colour spectrum, which plays with red, orange, pink and yellow, impresses with radiant flowers that seem to glow like the sun itself. Speaking of sun, Bakari® impresses in full sun locations with a strong appearance, early flowering and bushy growth.
Special Calibrachoa STAND OUTS are the Fresh & Fruity varieties, which have been separated from the Neo series to give them the independence they deserve. The two-coloured varieties with a large eye cover the entire summer colour palette and the variety names also inspire a desire for summer: Summer Fresh, Panna Cotta, Lavandula Cheesecake, Smoothie, Frozen Berry and Mango Lassi.
3D - as the name suggests, this Osteospermum series presents double- flowering varieties with an impressive appearance. The best thing about it: the flowers do not close. 3D Osteospermum not only offer attractive colour combinations, but also form a homogeneous series that is also easy to cultivate. The top variety and a DIAMOND in the range is 3D Steel Blue, which impresses with its unique blue colour, which becomes even more intense in strong light and outdoors in summer. With its excellent branching and medium-compact growth, it not only impresses with its strength, but also with its elegance, which is reflected in the newly developed marketing campaign.
In the course of a clear repositioning, the dahlia series previously known as Meena has been renamed Dalaya® Garden. This new series name, accompanied by an appealing logo, emphasises the excellent suitability of the dahlias for the garden. The plants are characterised by their medium height, round, very bushy habit and high resistance to mildew. In addition to the variety of standard colours, the particularly attractive bicoloured varieties, with green and dark bronze foliage colours and rich, long-lasting flowering until the beginning of frost, are especially impressive. The large, semi-double, high-pollen flowers make Dalaya® Garden very insect-friendly (e.g. bees, bumblebees, butterflies). They only require a short cultivation period of 8 weeks with just one rooted cutting in a 13-17cm pot.
The AlpeTunia® series, known for its strong trailing petunias, has been successfully modernised. With a wide range of colours, including special colours, the series offers 14 unique varieties with large, early flowers, full blooms and good branching - an absolute eye-catcher with a proven long-distance effect. The plant structure is dense and sometimes grows a little more upright in the initial phase, but then quickly develops its characteristic hanging habit. The varieties produce flowers early due to their day length neutrality. A strong appearance is guaranteed!
Solenostemon is a new crop in the Selecta range: Spectrum, the new series consists of four varieties that have been selected for high heat tolerance and low flowering tendency with high uniformity. The high-contrast leaf design is a wonderful addition to flowering assortments and can be combined beautifully.
