New KWIN will be published next summer

The new update of the KWantitatieve INformatie (Quantitative Information on Dutch Greenhouse horticulture, KWIN) for greenhouse horticulture will be published next summer. This publication shows the cost price structure for 115 crops, including the costs of energy, labour, plant material, depreciation, fertilizers and plant protection products. This makes the KWIN an indispensable document for, among others, investing growers, consultancy firms and funders.

The first edition of the KWIN for greenhouse horticulture appeared in 1983. Since then, a new edition has been published on average once every two years. Other sectors also have KWINs. For example, labor and material costs have risen by about 10 to 20%, not to mention energy costs. Moreover, the KWIN clearly shows that growers now use less electricity due to the switch from HPS to LED lighting.

For vegetables and cut flowers, the cost price per kilogram or per item is calculated for each four-week period. This also shows the production and purchase of natural gas, electricity, CO2 and labor in that period. For pot, bedding and container plants, the numbers have been calculated per 1000 plants.
