Bloemteknik launches a fully adjustable, multi-channel LED platform
Kannuksen Kauppapuutarha from Finland has recorded a 43% yield increase in cucumbers, thanks to the light engines from Bloem.

London, UK – Bloemteknik (t/a Bloem), an innovative provider of customised horticultural lighting solutions, announces the launch of Top Crop, the latest generation of its advanced LED platform. Purpose-built for high-wire crop cultivation, Top Crop features a fully adjustable, multi-channel LED system designed to maximise PAR light efficiency, enhance crop uniformity, and reduce energy consumption. With real-time spectral control, growers gain unparalleled precision to optimise plant performance and boost productivity across every growth cycle.

Designed for vine-growing crops

High-wire crops such as tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers demand a sophisticated lighting approach throughout their extensive growth cycles. From early vegetative development to flowering and fruiting, Top Crop’s dynamic multi-channel spectrum system allows growers to adjust light composition to respond to both environmental changes and plant biology.

“With Top Crop, we’re building on the success of our patent-pending adjustable light engines by adding dynamic spectral control,” said Antoine Charvin, Product Manager at Bloemteknik. “Growers can now fine-tune both intensity and light spectrum in real time, helping to guide plant morphology, optimise each growth phase or respond to both seasonal changes and time-of-day conditions.”

Engineered for high-performance greenhouse environments

Unlike conventional top-lighting fixtures, Top Crop uses Bloem’s patent-pending adjustable light engine technology to deliver deeper canopy penetration, promoting more uniform development over the vine’s vertical height, improving harvestable yield by up to 43% as demonstrated by our recent customer testimonials.

Its full aluminium casting, combined with a sealed optical lens that protects the light emitting diodes, ensures robust thermal performance and durability in high-humidity greenhouse environments. The plug-and-play design simplifies installation and maintenance, while the remote driver configuration allows multiple light engines to connect to a single external power supply, enhancing thermal management, extending fixture lifespan, and improving overall system reliability.

Adaptable spectrum and advanced daily light integral control

Top Crop integrates seamlessly with Wand, Bloem’s wireless lighting control platform. This enables zone-specific dimming and precise spectral tuning across all phases of plant development. With its multi-channel light recipes, growers can fine-tune light output to boost yield, accelerate growth, and influence plant morphology.

Independent Far-Red control enables end-of-day lighting treatments and the induction of shade avoidance responses, influencing internodal spacing, leaf expansion, and flowering behaviour. When paired with PAR sensors, Top Crop can self-regulate light output to meet precise daily light integral targets, helping to reduce energy waste from over-lighting.
