The perfect highlights for bouquets at IFTEX Nairobi

From 6 to 8 June, Dümmen Orange presented a well-balanced range of highlights for bouquets at IFTEX in Nairobi, Kenya. In the same week, the leading breeder welcomed growers and East African supply chain partners at its site in Naivasha. Exciting results from Dümmen Orange’s global breeding program were shown at both locations. Novelties, highlights and experimental varieties in the Carnation, Chrysanthemum, Gerbera and Limonium segments were on display in greenhouses, as well as in trendy combinations at IFTEX.

Dümmen Orange’s activities in Kenya are focusing on breeding and delivering high-quality young plant material that is well-suited to the local production climate and stays fresh until it reaches its final destination.

In its local Kenyan greenhouses, Dümmen Orange conducts trials and showcases its Cut Flowers assortment, demonstrating its expertise while connecting with local growers. By giving producers an opportunity to see the flowers in realistic conditions, Dümmen Orange enables growers to make more informed decisions about which varieties to include in their own range.

‘We are pleased to see such a high level of engagement from our visitors, with many of them asking questions and expressing their enthusiasm for our varieties,’ says Bart Engels, Managing Director at Dümmen Orange in Naivasha. ‘It’s a good sign that visitors are genuinely interested in what we have to offer and want to learn more about our portfolio.’

Among the highlights shown in Kenya were SnowStorm+ and Garfield

SnowStorm+ is the must-have African quality rose. With its pure white petals and long vase life, this rose is sure to impress. SnowStorm+ is the ideal choice for adding an elegant touch to any bouquet. With its ability to fully open in a vase, this rose is guaranteed to make an impact.

As the name Garfield already indicates, this orange-colored rose is something you cannot miss. Dümmen Orange has high expectations for this new variety and already sees a huge demand for it in trial orders. African rose varieties need to perform well during distribution to meet the vase life guarantee requirements. Garfield stands out in most aspects, which makes this variety a high potential for the future.

Ambitious plans

Dümmen Orange’s ambition is to be a key player in the packing at source business with a focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. Reinoud Hagen, Global Director Cut Flowers and Calla: ‘With our solid expertise in breeding we are well-positioned in this developing market to continue delivering excellent results for growers and retailers alike.’
