A sparkling celebration: KG's 50th Anniversary Bash

Last Saturday, KG celebrated a milestone —its 50th anniversary— with an impressive Open Day followed by an unforgettable evening party. Fortunately, the weather played along perfectly, drawing in a lively crowd between 12:00 and 16:00.

KG pulled out all the stops to mark the occasion. There was something for everyone, young and old alike. Horticulture professionals from across the sector made their way to Bergschenhoek, joined by local residents and proud family members of employees. Some visitors even arrived by bus from distant corners of the country, eager to get a glimpse behind the scenes of the renowned company.

Guests followed a guided route through KG’s various business units, gaining insight into the company's operations. A mini trade fair added extra flair to the event, featuring engaging presentations by KG’s partner companies—Bucon, Horti XS, Viemose, Hortipower, Trintech, and Dutch Agro Systems, among others.

Evening Extravaganza

As the sun set, the celebration shifted gears into party mode, welcoming 400 guests for a festive evening filled with music, laughter, and surprises. The original Crazy Piano’s band lit up the stage with their signature energy, followed by a set from DJ Mark van Dale that kept the dance floor buzzing.

The emotional high point of the evening came during the official opening ceremony. In a heartwarming moment, the honor of launching the evening’s spectacle went to the youngest member of the Greeve family—5-year-old Lova. With a dramatic press of a glowing red button, she triggered a burst of fireworks and a dazzling 60-second animation video. Specially created for the occasion, the video showcased five decades of KG’s remarkable journey, set to a medley of iconic Top 40 hits from each era.

Guests, employees, and family members all agreed: it was a day—and night—to remember.

Here’s to the next 50 years!
