Energy price rises questioned by farmers

North west Tasmanian farmer Matt Ryan says the government has let people down by failing to decouple Tasmania's power from the national electricity market.

He says his current energy bill of up to $180,000 will increase by 40 per cent when his next contract comes into place.

Another north west farmer Marcus Brandsema says he is looking at increasing the price of tomatoes he grows in a greenhouse on his farm because of the energy rises.
