Fogponic Modules with high practical relevance impressed expert jury - winners of the final round with five nominees - awards ceremony in Hanover at Agritechnica.

(DLG). Lite + Fog GmbH from Berlin is the winner of the DLG Impulse Pitches 2023. The start-up company won the final round of live pitches, held  on 15 November. The live presentations by the nominees, five pioneers, took place at the "Inhouse Farming - Feed & Food Show" of the DLG (German Agricultural Society) as part of Agritechnica 2023 in Hanover,  Germany. Lite + Fog presented its innovation, the Fogponic Modules, to a trade audience and convinced the jury of experts. In addition to the depth of innovation and practical relevance, the aspects of economic efficiency and improvement of the environmental and energy situation were also decisive for the win.

A jury of experts selected five nominees in advance from numerous international applications and on the basis of strict selection criteria. As part of the final round in Hanover, the pioneers presented their innovations in the form of short presentations ("Impulse Pitches"). Each participant had the chance to convince the expert commission of their innovative product or concept in a ten-minute presentation followed by a five-minute discussion round.

The decision of the expert jury was clear: Lite + Fog scored with its depth of innovation and practical relevance, but aspects of economic efficiency and the improvement of the environmental and energy situation were also ultimately decisive for the win. The automated Fogponic Farming Modules from Lite + Fog offer a number of advantages. The hygienic standard of the modules makes it possible to grow plants and herbs for pharmaceutical projects, for instance. For example, it's possible to grow insulin in lettuce or an mRNA vaccine in tobacco plants. This is a completely new and fascinating field of agriculture - "Plant Molecular Farming". As different as the nominated products, concepts and technologies of the finalists at the Inhouse Pitching were in their approaches - all of them have the potential for the new or further development of the production and value chain of indoor farming as well as alternative feed and food production.
