Benelux countries entrepreneurs discuss prospects for cooperation

UZBEKISTAN, Tashkent- The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Brussels organized a video conference with representatives of the business community of the Benelux countries, Dunyo reports.

Representatives of the Bukhara region khokimiyat, agricultural adviser at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Uzbekistan (with a residence in Moscow) Mews Brauer, employees of about 40 companies in Uzbekistan and Benelux countries, as well as compatriots living in Europe joined the event online.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov informed about measures taken in Uzbekistan to support economic sectors in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. It was emphasized that, on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, everything necessary is done in the republic to support local exporters, foreign investors, ensure the smooth operation of exporting companies and implement investment projects.

The ambassador urged participants to take advantage of new opportunities opening up for the development of mutual cooperation in many sectors of the economy thanks to measures of state support for business in the republic. It was emphasized that the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Benelux countries is ready to provide all possible assistance to both Uzbek and European entrepreneurs in establishing and strengthening long-term mutual contacts.

The export-investment, tourism and agricultural potential of the Bukhara region was presented at a video conference. The administration of the khokimiyat of the region noted that attractive conditions for doing business are offered to foreign investors and businessmen, customs and tax incentives are provided, infrastructure, energy and labor are available.

Interest was expressed in attracting partners from Benelux countries to implement joint projects in the areas of greenhouse development, crop production, seed growing, horticulture, processing of agricultural products and meat and dairy products, and creation of capacities for storing agricultural products in the territory of the Bukhara region.

Representatives of a number of companies operating in Uzbekistan, in particular, Tummers Food Processing Solutions, Geerlofs Refrigiration, Holland Rosetta TST-Agro, Certon, Ottevanger Milling Engineers bv, Agri-Projects Consulting LLC and others, spoke on the European side.

Entrepreneurs talked about their experience in working with Uzbek partners and expressed their willingness to expand cooperation. In particular, the foreign side was particularly interested in the proposals of entrepreneurs from the Bukhara region who suggested starting cooperation in the areas of crop production and seed production, as well as the creation of enterprises for processing dairy and agricultural products.

The proposal of the businessman from Surkhandarya region, director of Agro Processing Group LLC and Agro Feed LLC R. Pulatov on cooperation in the field of processing also received a lively response from a number of participants from the Netherlands.

As part of the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2030, the Dutch company Bilancia proposed to establish cooperation in organizing training courses for Uzbek farmers and specialists in the field of greenhouse farming, which is also one of the urgent issues for the Uzbek side.

The meeting participants were informed about the schedule of charter flights for the delivery of Uzbek citizens who are currently in Europe. It was noted that, if necessary, the Embassy is ready to provide the necessary assistance in transporting foreign specialists involved in projects currently implemented in Uzbekistan.

As a result of the event, an agreement was reached to continue meetings on a regular basis.
