Technology Scientist - Seeds
Type: Permanent contract
Business Unit: Flower Seeds Operations
Department: Seed Crops & Technology OPEX
In this role you are responsible for leading assigned Seed Production Research Programs and projects which annually ensure business benefit and are aligned with the flower Seed Production needs. You will collaborate closely with teams in production of seeds, young plant production, seed enhancement and marketing on the various projects in the research program to generate new crop culture information, growing protocols, innovations, and to validate product claims. You will provide in depth expert leadership and advice for creating and implementing research/development and procedures to ensure a business benefit.
In this role you will support an innovation culture within teams and througout the flowers organizations and provide a scientific leadership in strategically important science an technology areas. You will actively engage with R&D, Operations, Farms, Sales and Marketing to leverage insights and learning's across the organization production. You will be providing a mentoring role to trail specialist, to set an excellent example as a leading scientist in close collaboration with Technical Innovation team and to advise other colleagues on scientific principles and methods. You also will secure a high scientific standards and analytical capabilities, including experimental design & reporting, standardized metrics, and up scaling/change management processes.
To succeed in this position you have at least 5 years of business experience within a horticulture research environment. You have a Ph.D. or M.S. in Plant science, Horticulture ore related field preferred. You have work experience in greenhouses operations, live-good production and horticultural sciences. You are able to understand both R&D and commercial grower process. You have experience with leading multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams. You are able to make sound decisions based on critical, data analyses. Good communication and presentations skills. Willingness to travel international to farms and other Syngenta locations. You are a team player by nature, fluent in English and preferably in other languages (like Dutch).
