Job purpose

The Flower Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the 7ACRES Grow Rooms. Including planning, scheduling, directing, coordinating and documenting cultivation activities.

The Flower Manager will oversee and implement propagation, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, IPM record keeping, and sanitation in greenhouse and grow rooms. They will work closely with the Nursery, Records and Processing Teams.

Duties and responsibilities

•             Responsible for maintaining the quality of 7ACRES product

•             Works with Operations Manager to develop and implement a production schedule for flowering plants, including labour time and budget

•             Maintains and cares for all plants by trimming, topping and preparing plants for flowering

•             Assures accurate PH/EC and temperatures/humidity levels daily

•             Manages any issues that occur in the Flowering Zone, including pest control

•             Follows and integrates a pest management schedule

•             Skillfully plans tasks while maintaining timeliness

•             Assign work schedules and duties to growers, and supervise their work

•             Prepare staff schedules or work assignments

•             Hire employees, train  and discipline employees

•             Conduct performance reviews with staff as directed by senior management

•             Create a professional work culture by training, motivating, and disciplining the employees working in the grow rooms

•             Explain and enforce safety regulations and policies

•             Communicate organizational policies and procedures

•             Tour work areas to observe work being done, to inspect plants, and to evaluate plant and growing medium conditions

•             Monitor facility operational systems

•             Assist in determining types and quantities of plants to be grown, based on budgets, projected sales volumes, or executive directives

•             Develop and implement a production schedule

•             Analyze data to inform operational decisions or activities

•             Estimate cost or material requirements to help develop departmental budget

•             Identify and recommend  plant nutrients, disease control measures, and equipment needed for purchase

•             Schedule material requirements and coordinate with procurement department

•             Inspect facilities and equipment for signs of disrepair, and ensure necessary maintenance work is completed

•             Identify plants with problems such as diseases and pests. Develop plan to mitigate

•             Monitor application of pesticides and fertilizers to plants

•             Regulate plant irrigation systems, and program environmental and irrigation control computers

•             Coordinate record-keeping, inventory and requisitioning activities

•             Ensure all plants are properly inventoried and tracked in accordance with the relevant SOPs and regulatory requirements

•             Organize plants to optimize growing conditions

•             Record all production methodologies and data

•             Ongoing maintenance ensuring appropriate irrigation, pruning, sanitation, and pest control of all grow room activities

•             Coordinate with other managers  and departments to ensure corporate objectives are met

•             Other duties as required


•             Certification in horticulture, botany, or the equivalent from an accredited institution or a combination of education and professional nursery work in any of the above disciplines is acceptable.

•             3-5 years experience supervising a team of individuals in a heavily regulated environment

•             Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to develop a strong, high performing team

•             Demonstrated ability to forge partnerships with multiple cross-functional areas, (ie. Operations, Maintenance, Quality Assurance) to enhance efficiency and productivity

•             Trouble shooting and problem solving skills

•             Strong written and verbal communication skills

•             Excellent understanding of the ACMPR and related regulations
