Grodan starts production line in Canada

4 July 2012

The Grodan Group, part of the Rockwool Group and supplier of innovative and sustainable stone wool substrate solutions for the professional horticultural sector, is expanding with a new production line in North America at the Roxul Inc. factory in Milton, Ontario.

Thanks to this new production line, Grodan will be able to respond faster to specific customer needs in the North American horticulture market and minimize delivery lead times.

Production on the new line will start this month. It will produce slabs for the professional horticulture industry. A quality control system has been set up to secure the highest product quality using the most efficient and effective production methods.

“This is a great step forward for the Grodan Group,” said Hub Janssen, managing director of the Grodan Group. “Not only will we be able to produce the highest quality stonewool substrates, but we can also considerably improve our time to market.

"This will result in an increased flexibility and speed in responding to customer needs. With the new production line, we are prepared to meet the increasing demand for our products in the North American market.”

The new line will reduce shipping distances, minimizing yearly freight between Europe and North America and leading to a decrease in CO2 emissions. These benefits are in line with the Grodan Group strategy to provide customers with the most sustainable solutions for their growing needs, said Janssen.

Nine jobs have been created since the installation of the production line and another 18 jobs are expected to open during the course of this year.
